I caught them. Napping. Together. Love, isn’t it. Ollie would be up for this sort of snooze all the time, snuggly buggly, puppy floppiness, fur touching fur. Ella is a different story. She is aloof. Coy. Cool. Seemingly indifferent, but that’s a ploy because she is onto you. She sleeps outside, year-round. The instant I turn the light off, she is out the doggie door. I think it’s her thick coat and the fresh air that keep her outside at night. Ella and Tule used to lie like this together. It was so sweet to see. They were cohorts for more than 10 years. This is the first time Ella and Ollie have napped together. I think Ella is saying, “He’s in.”
Stay tuned for a January photo special.

The click of the camera. Caught. Ella yawns.
